The Power of Words.

I am a Christian. Being a Christian I believe that God literally spoke the world into existence. Furthermore I also believe that God has given human beings (His creation) the power to also speak life into our own lives and situations. Now some of you may be tempted to stop reading this “gobbled goop” at this point. Fair play I cannot force you. However if you continue reading you will see that the worst that can happen by you reading this post is that you are exposed to an alternative way of thinking…isn’t that what being a rebel of Christianity is all about – being free to all perspectives.

So… I was reading the following verses in my Bible a day or two ago:

“God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it”. – John 1: 3 -5.

I savoured the lines for a little while and was struck by the power and depth of these words. To paraphrase a little what the verses are saying is that all of us good, bad, evil, saintly, weird, normal, rich, poor and everything inbetween are created by God. Also God simply spoke and the universe was created… God spoke and all the planets, stars, continents, countries, cities, towns, people, grass strands and the tiniest of insects were created. The life brought light and God as the ultimate source of light is forever present even in the darkest, deepest and deadliest places. That light will never be put out.

Wow.

Read that again and think about it.

Thank you Nissi for jolting me awake this morning!

  3. YES!!!

I took a 1 year course on communication. There were two prerequisites: Communication: Access to Power and Communcation: The Power to Create. I absolutely believe that we create the world with our words! The more time passes, the more I believe it and feel it in my life.

    Thanks for the reminder!

  4. So beautifully written. Thank you Nissi. Wonderful read for what will be a wonderful start to my day!! God Bless

We all frame our lives and spirituality in different ways, but I respect the differences as well as the benefits each of us have from our particular track. Just seeing you write with the joy you feel warms my heart.

Too many look askance at the beliefs of another, no matter what they may be, failing to realise it shouldn’t be about judging another, but about each of us finding our own good path to follow, including within a secular framework. It’s all good.

this just about blew me away! It’s exactly the scripture focus that my first novel was based on, and I love how you added the big WOW!! to this. Amen! 🙂 What a privilege to bring His light and to speak His life into the lives of others…and even into our own areas of need. Powerful post!

  10. This is so beautiful, and so beautifully true. God is the Alpha and Omega, there is no hiding from His Truth. Thank you for sharing this Scripture, and its power.

  11. The word encompasses many things. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with god in the beginning.” The bible is the word of God. The entire bible points to Christ, who is the word. In reading the bible the word fills our souls and we see him. If you are with some one who is tripped out, say the word, “Jesus” and watch the response. I have found it to be quite intriging how a name can change a persons demeanor.
Consider the odds that this earth could sustain life. It takes an entire universe to be in the correct position and balance for our planet to have what we need to be alive.

God saw that the light was good. -Genesis 1:4a “And it was good.” Studied this in Bible study this week– looking at your work and seeing that it is good. Love this concept, of speaking things into existence. Of course, that’s why I write down my new year’s resolutions — to make them real. And it is good. Nicely done.

The spoken word is more powerful than we think. Once we are filled with the Holy Spirit we must all watch our words. Great post.

    1. If we are filled with the Holy Spirit God will give us the words.

  15. Those are powerful words and the concept of the creator is everlasting wouldn’t you say?

  16. Something to think about: Genesis 2:7 niv…”the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and BREATHED INTO HIS NOSTRILS the BREATH of LIFE and man became a LIVING being.” If God BREATHED into Adam and we are descendents of Adam…then man must have the BREATH of God in them. Often see Christians looking for a new church, a new prayer, a prayer cloth that will truly make them rich and healthy, that bible verse they missed, a miracle,..a pastor with a new improved message…they look & look & look…asking: where is God? when will that miracle check come in i asked and stood on God’s word for?, why isn’t my child getting healed from cancer? why, why, why, want, want, want…so they search, search, search…they are missing the very God they struggle to find because they are looking out there…the drive thru God.(fast easy..give me give me give me NOW!…saying: God you have to GIVE ME because i stand on your promises) That’s the god we created…the man created god…he’s there for our every WANT god.) All-The-While God’s breath flows through our nostrils, in and out, each breath…God is right here…in us! We from birth have ALL we need…His breath. What more can we possibly ask for? Breath-Life-Living

I have come to a place where i can numb my mind enough to block out that voice/breath in my head, i have come to a point where my heart is hard so not to feel that breath pumping through my heart/veins..but this THING in my stomach…this Voice,..this Breath…what do i do with that??? I have found a way to make the empty go away, a way to calm the BREATH…when i get in the mist of heavy addictive use…i say to my friends…i got to get BREATHLESS…i want to kill that BREATH…that THING that seems not to want to let go…of ME! But “IT” is stealing my life!

Christians stop looking out there…stop wanting, stop lie’n to yourselves, stop sit’n in that comfortable church, pew, place…go out in the streets and give..REAL LOVE…till you have nothing left to give…the cross you are to carry is not made of wood but of LOVE. I’m not smart, i’m an addict…but one THING i’m sure of…if God exist…He lives in our BREATH! Love is not found wanting. (the lil things) peace be

  17. Creationism was great until man took charge of it. 🙂 Nice post!
