Christmas and setting aside family feuds.

 Hi All!

We are a few days away from Christmas and I am seeing tensions rise in my house as everyone rushes to get presents and plan for the big day. Instead of happiness and Christmas cheer, people’s buttons are being pushed and we are trying to spend as little time in each other’s space as possible. Yesterday we ended up having a huge giggling session at something being blown out of proportion and we were all forced to face the fact that we were ruining our own Christmas by having such misplaced priorities. Our shameful behaviour has brought me back to understanding the core of the season and remembering why we dash to get presents and make delicious meals in the first place.

I am a Christian and so Christmas is the time we use to remember baby Jesus being born. The miracle baby was sent to the world so that we could have better lives and  get a glimpse of God in human form. The Christmas story has so many different levels and layers, I am reminded of how God guides, protects and reveals things to us. The angels, Shepherds, wise men, Mary’s faith, Joseph’s courage all speak leaps and bounds about the goodness of humanity and sovereignty of God.

…I am not going to bang on about the lessons and morals of the story and instead ask that you take some time to remember hearing the Christmas story as a child. If you have never read it or want a reminder then check this ( ). Christmas is a time for family, love, building trust where it has been lost and forgiveness. Take some time to love this season!

I love you!

About Plantain Periodicals

Hello! Welcome to the Plantain Periodicals blogs. The name stems from the kitchen moments I had with my friends at university cooking plantain and planning our lives together. I have used this space as a window into my mind and the way I make sense of all my experiences through writing. This is where I share those conversations and moments that happen inside my head as a young woman growing up in 21st century London. Hopefully you'll be entertained and also learn a thing or two. My main blog ad: My literature blog: NMx

You are so right about the tone and mindset of what we need to be in during the holidays. I may get back with you the first of the year about guest posting on Thoughts from the Porch.
Have a wonderful Christmas and many blessings to your 2012!!

SO true, we all tend to get a bit too stressy and lose sight of what is really important at this time of year. You have reminded me to take a step back, relax and enjoy. Thanks.
